The South African Football Association (SAFA) has announced free entry for fans to attend the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier between South Africa’s Bantwana and Nigeria’s Flamingos. The first leg of the second-round qualifying tie will take place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), SAFA encouraged fans to come out and support the team, stating, “Come show your love and support the team in this crucial World Cup qualifier on Saturday. Entry is free.”
South Africa advanced to this stage after an emphatic 21-2 aggregate victory over Gabon in the first round. Meanwhile, Nigeria, who won bronze at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, received a bye to the second round.
The reverse fixture is scheduled to be played at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Nigeria, on Saturday, 15 March. The winner on aggregate will progress to the third round of the qualification campaign for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
This clash promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams vie for a spot in the next round, with South Africa aiming to leverage home support and Nigeria looking to build on their strong pedigree in women’s youth football. Fans are expected to turn out in large numbers to cheer on their respective teams in what is set to be a fiercely contested qualifier.
