Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Resubmits Petition Against Senate President Akpabio

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has resubmitted her petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, alleging sexual harassment and abuse of office. The petition was initially rejected on Wednesday because it bore the lawmaker’s signature instead of those of her constituents.

DAILY MENTOR reports that the resubmitted petition, now signed by her constituents, was presented during Thursday’s plenary session. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was asked whether the matter was already before any court of law, to which she responded that it was not.

Following her clarification, the Senate directed her to formally submit the petition, which was subsequently referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct for investigation. The committee has been given four weeks to conduct its probe and report back to the Senate.

The allegations against Akpabio have sparked significant attention, with many calling for a thorough and impartial investigation. The development underscores the Senate’s commitment to addressing internal grievances and maintaining ethical standards within its ranks.

DAILY MENTOR will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as the investigation progresses.
