Six people have died, and four others were rescued alive after a multi-vehicle collision occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway early Saturday morning. The accident took place in front of the NIPCO GAS Station, opposite Prayer City, near the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry headquarters, outbound from Lagos.
The crash involved a truck, a fuel tanker, and a 14-seater commercial bus. The impact resulted in significant traffic congestion along the expressway.
Emergency responders, including teams from the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Fire Service, and the Police, quickly arrived at the scene to lead rescue and recovery operations.
According to Corridor Commander Denja Abdullahi, the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. While six individuals lost their lives, four were successfully rescued from the wreckage. One woman sustained critical injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Both tanker drivers involved in the incident fled the scene.
The Public Relations Officer of TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, appealed to the public for understanding and cooperation, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the ongoing rescue efforts. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
