John Boyega Expresses Interest in Playing X-Men's Bishop in the MCU

John Boyega, known for his role as Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, has revealed his openness to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), specifically expressing interest in playing the X-Men character Bishop. The revelation came during a panel at C2E2, hosted by Josh Horowitz, where Boyega mentioned that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had previously inquired about which Marvel character he'd like to portray.

While initially unsure, Boyega seized on a fan's suggestion of Bishop, responding, "Oh, I'd play Bishop." Bishop, created by John Byrne and Whilce Portacio, is a time-traveling mutant from a dystopian future with the power of energy absorption. The character has appeared in X-Men: The Animated Series and, briefly, in the film X-Men: Days of Future Past, where he was played by Omar Sy.

Boyega's potential casting as Bishop has generated excitement among fans, especially with the X-Men expected to eventually be integrated into the MCU. Given Bishop's limited portrayal in previous X-Men films, Boyega's involvement could allow Marvel Studios to establish a definitive take on the character, potentially mirroring the success of Dave Bautista as Drax or Paul Rudd as Ant-Man.

Rumors had previously suggested Boyega was considered for the role of Kang the Conqueror or even Black Panther, but those possibilities appear to have been fan speculation.
