Just In: Rivers Women Protest State of Emergency, March Towards Government House

A large group of women in Rivers State have joined the wave of protests against the state of emergency declared by the federal government. These women are marching towards the State Government House in Port Harcourt, expressing their discontent with the current governance situation in the state.

The protest is part of broader demonstrations across Nigeria, led by groups like the Take-It-Back Movement, which are also demanding the repeal of the Cybercrime Act and an end to what they describe as authoritarian measures under President Bola Tinubu's administration.

The protesters in Rivers specifically call for the reinstatement of the suspended State House of Assembly and the Executive, criticizing the imposition of a sole administrator as unconstitutional.

The involvement of Rivers women in these protests highlights the widespread dissatisfaction among citizens with the ongoing political developments in the state.

Despite police attempts to disperse protesters in other parts of the country, the women's march underscores the determination of Rivers residents to voice their grievances and seek a return to democratic governance.
