The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to issue a directive to security agencies, urging them to ensure effective protection for pastoralist communities across the country.
MACBAN's National President, Baba Ngelzarma, made this appeal at a recent summit in Abuja, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive security measures to safeguard the lives and property of herders, who have long faced violent attacks, banditry, and conflicts with farmers.
Ngelzarma stressed that these challenges threaten not only the livelihoods of pastoralists but also the stability and unity of Nigeria. He called for collaborative efforts between the government, civil society, and stakeholders to develop strategies that prioritize the safety of all Nigerians, regardless of occupation or background.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to constructive engagement with authorities and peaceful coexistence, while emphasizing that effective security is crucial for the well-being of pastoralist communities nationwide.
