An explosion at a metal scrap yard in the Idi-Araba area of Mushin Local Government in Lagos has resulted in one fatality and injuries to two others. The incident occurred on Friday, prompting a joint investigation by the Nigerian Army and the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.
Investigation Details
The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Police, has launched an inquiry to determine the cause of the explosion. According to a statement by the Division’s spokesman, Lt.-Col. Olabisi Ayeni, the Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) Squadron is working with the police to uncover the source of the blast and assess the surrounding area for safety.
Casualties and Response
The explosion claimed the life of one individual and left two others injured. Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and avoid panic, assuring them that measures are being taken to secure the environment and prevent further incidents.
