“We Inherited Extreme Insecurity and Bad Governance” - NSA Ribadu

Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has acknowledged the severe security and governance challenges inherited by the current administration, describing the situation as “extreme insecurity and bad government.” Ribadu made these remarks while assuring Nigerians of a renewed and robust approach to tackling the nation’s security threats as the country moves into 2025.

Ribadu emphasized that the administration, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has had to confront deep-rooted issues of terrorism, violent extremism, and organized crime. He credited recent progress in national security to the exceptional leadership and political will demonstrated by President Tinubu, as well as the collective efforts of the armed forces, security agencies, and the Nigerian people.

Looking ahead, Ribadu pledged an intensified focus on combating insecurity through enhanced collaboration, innovative strategies, and proactive measures. Key advancements include the operationalization of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell and plans to introduce dedicated emergency numbers to improve rapid response to incidents.

Ribadu called on all Nigerians to remain vigilant and cooperative, stressing that unity and shared responsibility are essential to overcoming the country’s security challenges. He expressed confidence that with continued support from citizens and security stakeholders, Nigeria will achieve greater peace and stability in the coming year.
