Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has sharply criticized Bola Tinubu's administration, asserting that Nigeria is regressing since Tinubu assumed office. In an interview with Deutsche Welle Hausa in Katsina, El-Rufai accused Tinubu's government of incompetence, nepotism, and betraying the founding ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
El-Rufai, a prominent figure in the Social Democratic Party (SDP), stated that Nigeria is currently worse off in terms of insecurity, the economy, and governance compared to previous administrations. He highlighted increasing insecurity, a struggling economy, growing poverty, and ethnic profiling as key areas of concern.
Specifically, El-Rufai alleged that Tinubu's appointments are driven by favoritism, with priority given to individuals known to him or from his own ethnic group. He asserted that Nigerians are aware of this trend and are not easily deceived.
El-Rufai's remarks mark a significant escalation in criticism against Tinubu's government, especially given his past affiliation with the ruling APC. His comments are likely to fuel further political debate and scrutiny of the current administration's policies and performance.
