Greta Thunberg to Join Humanitarian Flotilla Heading to Gaza

Renowned climate activist Greta Thunberg is set to visit Gaza as part of a humanitarian mission organized by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, a group of international activists protesting Israel’s blockade on humanitarian aid to the territory. The mission, scheduled to set sail on Sunday, aims to draw global attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to denounce what organizers describe as a blockade and “ongoing genocide.”

The trip will include other notable activists, such as Rima Hassan, a French-Palestinian member of the European Parliament, who emphasized that the operation seeks to condemn the blockade, highlight the suffering of Gaza’s population, and challenge what they see as impunity for Israel’s actions. Hassan also called for maximum public support and awareness for the initiative.

Thunberg, who gained international recognition for her climate activism, was previously scheduled to join a similar mission earlier this month, but the ship was reportedly damaged en route—activists suspecting an Israeli drone strike was responsible.

This latest effort comes as humanitarian aid is beginning to trickle back into Gaza, though aid organizations warn that the territory is still facing mass starvation and a severe humanitarian emergency. The mission is intended both as a protest and a practical attempt to deliver aid, amid ongoing international debate about the situation in Gaza.
