Miley Cyrus Reveals She Nearly Quit Music After Rupturing Ovarian Cyst On Stage

American pop star Miley Cyrus has revealed that she almost quit music following a traumatic onstage accident in which she ruptured an ovarian cyst. The incident occurred during her New Year’s Eve 2023 performance, leaving the singer in severe pain and emotional distress.

In a candid interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the 32-year-old “Angels Like You” hitmaker shared how the experience shook her confidence and made her consider stepping away from her music career. Cyrus explained that the turning point came after a conversation with Canadian film producer Lorne Michaels, who offered her crucial support and perspective.

“He said to me, ‘Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild,’” Cyrus recounted. “He’s like, ‘You have no idea how many artists have sat in this chair and told me they were quitting music. Everyone does this, everyone has these traumatic experiences.’”

Michaels’ advice encouraged Cyrus to persevere, reminding her that setbacks and challenges are common even among the biggest stars. The singer’s openness about her ordeal has resonated with fans, highlighting both the physical and emotional challenges artists can face behind the scenes.
