Police Arrest Rapper Ruggedman Over Alleged Dispute with PMAN

Nigerian rapper Ruggedman has been arrested and is currently being detained by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, following an alleged dispute with the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN).

The news was made public by human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who took to Instagram on Thursday to raise concerns about Ruggedman’s treatment in police custody. According to Gwamnishu, the rapper and others involved in the dispute are being maltreated by the police, despite no proper investigation having been concluded.

Gwamnishu’s statement reads: “No proper investigation has been concluded. He and others are being maltreated. I wish to draw the attention of Nigerians to what is going on.”

The dispute dates back to August 2024, when PMAN suspended Ruggedman along with other members JFO Baba Ojonorgua, Sunny Neji, and Zaaki Azzay over alleged misconduct.

As of now, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the arrest or the specific allegations against Ruggedman. The situation has sparked concern among fans and the entertainment industry, with many calling for due process and fair treatment for all parties involved.
