We’ve Resurrected PDP – Bode George

Bode George, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that the party has been “resurrected” following its recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, contrary to widespread speculation that the PDP was dead.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today after the crucial NEC meeting aimed at resolving the party’s internal crisis, George stated:

“We have already done the resurrection today. An iroko tree doesn’t die, this party is an iroko tree because the tap root is so deep.”

He criticized certain politicians within the party for selfishness, claiming they have strayed from the founding ideals of the PDP. George emphasized that the NEC meeting served as a wake-up call, allowing the party to reflect on its failures and learn important lessons for the future.

“The PDP NEC meeting was the realisation of the failures and things that we have done. This party is not a party for one individual, no individual can claim ownership of this party,” he added.

George also highlighted the message from the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, who urged members to put aside selfish interests and embrace selflessness for the party’s unity and progress.

When asked if he would consider leaving the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bode George firmly rejected the idea, criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s policies and the current hardship in the country. He also reiterated his belief that the APC did not win the 2023 presidential election, citing flaws in the electoral process.
