Akpabio and NASS Security Demanded Natasha Akpoti Provide Her Husband Before Entering Office – Aisha Yesufu Speaks Out

Activist Aisha Yesufu has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the National Assembly security operatives of setting unreasonable conditions for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to access her office in the Senate.

Yesufu revealed that as part of the barriers to Natasha’s return to the Senate following a court-ordered reinstatement, security personnel demanded that Natasha provide her husband’s details before she could enter the National Assembly premises.

Accompanied by supporters including Aisha Yesufu and former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili Natasha was repeatedly blocked by heavily armed police officers as she attempted to resume her senatorial duties.

Natasha and her team had to walk several meters from the main gate to the Assembly gate after being denied direct entry, a move Yesufu condemned as unlawful and a flagrant violation of the court order.

Natasha accused Akpabio of orchestrating a personal vendetta by appealing against the court ruling that reinstated her and withdrawing her security detail, which exposed her to potential harm.

Former Senator Elisha Abbo supported these claims, describing Akpabio’s handling of the suspension as imperial and unjust, especially citing the withdrawal of Natasha's security personnel.

Both Natasha and Yesufu have vowed to continue legal action to ensure her rightful place in the Senate and called on Nigerians to stand against what they describe as tyranny and abuse of power within the National Assembly.
