An Air India flight from Phuket, Thailand, to New Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on June 13, 2025, following a bomb threat reported onboard. The Airbus A320 aircraft, Flight AI 379, carrying 156 passengers, turned back over the Andaman Sea and circled before safely landing back at Phuket International Airport.
The pilot alerted air traffic control after a note indicating a possible bomb was found in the plane’s lavatory. Thai airport authorities promptly activated emergency protocols, evacuated all passengers, and conducted a thorough search of the aircraft. No explosives or suspicious items were found.
This incident occurred just one day after a tragic Air India Boeing 787 crash near Ahmedabad, India, which claimed at least 265 lives, including passengers and people on the ground.
Air India and Thai authorities continue to investigate the bomb threat, while the flight is expected to resume its journey to Delhi once cleared.
