The Association of Resident Doctors, Kaduna State Chapter, has announced the suspension of its strike action, bringing relief to patients and the wider healthcare community across the state. The decision, effective from June 10, 2025, comes after a series of constructive meetings between the doctors and the Kaduna State Government aimed at addressing longstanding challenges in the state’s healthcare system.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the association revealed that the breakthrough was achieved following the active intervention of the Secretary to the State Government. The doctors expressed optimism that the government would fulfill its commitment to resolve their grievances within the next two months, as agreed during the negotiations.
“We call on all our members to resume work and allow the government to work holistically towards resolving these challenges,” the association stated, signaling an immediate return to duty for resident doctors across Kaduna’s public hospitals.
The doctors also extended their gratitude to the public for their unwavering support and understanding throughout the industrial action. “We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the public for standing with us during this trying period. Your support and understanding have been invaluable, and we are grateful for your solidarity in demanding a better healthcare system in Kaduna State,” the statement read.
The suspension of the strike is expected to restore normalcy to healthcare services in Kaduna, which had been disrupted by the industrial action.
