Nigerian music superstar Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has revealed he is teaming up once again with football legend Mikel Obi in a determined bid to bring Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to Chelsea Football Club.
Taking to social media platform X, Mr P an ardent Chelsea supporter shared that he and Mikel Obi are renewing their efforts this summer after a near-miss in 2024. “Dear Chelsea FC fans, last summer, Mikel Obi and I made every effort to secure the signing of Victor Osimhen for Chelsea. Including engaging in a three-way call right up until the transfer deadline,” Okoye posted. “I want to reassure all of you that we remain steadfast in our pursuit and will continue our efforts this summer. Fingers crossed.”
Okoye, one half of the iconic duo P-Square, is known to be a close friend of Osimhen and has publicly expressed his wish to see the star striker in Chelsea blue. Their campaign comes at a crucial time, as Chelsea looks to strengthen its attacking force following a challenging 2024/2025 season.
Fans will remember that last summer’s transfer saga saw Osimhen, after much speculation, join Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan when a deal with Chelsea failed to materialize. The Nigerian forward has since dazzled in the Turkish Süper Lig, finishing as the league’s top scorer and drawing attention from elite European clubs.
With Chelsea in desperate need of goalscoring reinforcements, Okoye and Mikel Obi’s renewed push offers fresh hope to the Stamford Bridge faithful. Osimhen, widely considered one of Africa’s brightest football talents, could be the marquee signing Chelsea fans have been dreaming of—if the duo’s efforts finally pay off this summer.
