Speed Darlington Defies NAPTIP’s Wanted Notice, Threatens Legal Action Over Alleged Rape Claims

Controversial Nigerian singer and content creator Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has responded defiantly after being declared wanted by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) over allegations including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking. The agency issued the wanted notice following Speed Darlington’s failure to honor an invitation for questioning related to his claim, made during an Instagram live video, of having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, Speed Darlington boldly rejected the allegations, vowing not to surrender to NAPTIP’s summons. He challenged the agency to produce evidence of any crime committed, describing the accusations as baseless and a ploy to gain social media clout. “I have not committed any crime, all I needed was to speak. Irresponsible talk is not a crime,” he insisted, threatening to sue NAPTIP for defamation and damages amounting to N2.5 million plus travel expenses for himself and his personal assistant, which he termed as “appearance fees” for the agency’s invitation.

He accused NAPTIP of using his name for publicity and dismissed the agency’s actions as a psychological mind game. Speed Darlington questioned who his complainant was and denied any acts of cyberstalking or cyberbullying, asserting that his video was an attempt to trend rather than a confession of criminal conduct.

The controversy erupted after a video surfaced in which he admitted to having sex with a minor, sparking public outrage and prompting NAPTIP to initiate investigations. The agency had previously extended multiple invitations for him to appear for questioning, which he declined.

Despite the serious nature of the allegations, Speed Darlington remains unrepentant, maintaining that he will not submit to what he calls an unfounded witch hunt. His lawyer has reportedly taken over the case, and the singer insists that NAPTIP’s declaration is an embarrassment to the agency itself.

The case continues to attract widespread attention as authorities seek to enforce the law amid the entertainer’s resistance, raising questions about accountability and the handling of sensitive allegations in the digital age.
