Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has revealed that he will soon make a decision regarding his international future, potentially switching allegiance to Nigeria’s Super Eagles. Born in England to Nigerian parents, the 27-year-old centre-back remains eligible to represent both England and Nigeria at the senior level. Having played 14 times for England across various youth levels, Adarabioyo has yet to make a senior appearance for either country.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approached him multiple times to join the Super Eagles, and interest from Nigerian football circles has grown steadily. Adarabioyo acknowledged the ongoing discussions, stating, “That is a question I have answered quite a bit recently. Yeah, it is something that we are looking into in the future. It is a conversation I want to have; we will see how that goes.” He made these remarks during a post-match press conference following Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Esperance de Tunis at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in Philadelphia.
Despite persistent rumors that he had previously declined Nigeria’s calls, Adarabioyo clarified that he has never formally rejected the Super Eagles and that no official conversations had taken place until now. His focus has primarily been on his club career, especially after joining Chelsea and lifting the UEFA Conference League trophy.
With Nigeria currently without a permanent national team coach and preparing for upcoming Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers, Adarabioyo’s potential switch could bolster the Super Eagles’ defense at a crucial time. The decision is expected soon, as the defender balances his dual eligibility and career ambitions.
