Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru Suspends 87 Top Government Officials for Absence at Crucial Government Function

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has ordered the immediate suspension of 87 government officials for failing to attend an important official government function. The suspension took effect immediately and will last for one month, during which the affected officials will not receive salaries and are barred from signing any official documents or participating in official activities.

The suspended officials include a broad range of high-ranking personnel: 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries. Affected commissioners have been instructed to hand over their duties to the most senior civil servants in their ministries.

A statement from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, emphasized that Governor Nwifuru remains committed to upholding discipline and high standards of public service in Ebonyi State. The Governor described the officials’ absence as an act of gross irresponsibility and a breach of public trust.

Prominent names among those suspended include Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, Prof. Leonard Uguru, Dr. Mathew Nwobashi, Prof. Nwogo Obasi, Barr. Ikeuwa Omebe, Chief Sunday Inyima, and Hon. Stanley Ogbuewu, among others.

This stern disciplinary action sends a clear message regarding accountability and dedication to duty within the Ebonyi State government, reinforcing the Governor's resolve to ensure that public officials meet their obligations fully.

The suspension highlights ongoing efforts by Governor Nwifuru to enforce administrative discipline and improve governance standards in the state.
