On July 29, 2025, First Lady Remi Tinubu announced a ₦1 billion donation through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) to support families displaced by recent attacks in Benue State, specifically following a suspected herders’ assault on the Yelewata community that resulted in over 100 deaths.
The donation aims to help the affected families regain stability, return to their livelihoods, and rebuild better lives. This pledge was made during her condolence visit to the Benue State Government House, where she met with victims' families and state officials.
The intervention aligns with RHI's mission to restore hope and improve the welfare of vulnerable families affected by violence and displacement. Alongside the financial support, relief materials were also provided to alleviate the suffering of displaced persons.
This action underscores the Federal Government’s commitment, through the First Lady’s office, to addressing humanitarian needs arising from insecurity and violence in Nigeria’s Middle Belt region.
