Popular Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has shared that missing the chance to represent Nigeria on Big Brother Africa became a pivotal blessing in his career. Speaking on The Culture League podcast, Egbuson disclosed that although he was shortlisted to join the reality show, he was eventually dropped at the final stage an experience he initially saw as a setback but now regards as life-changing.
Egbuson revealed he had completed all necessary preparations alongside four other finalists and was on standby to be called for the show. He even hired someone to manage his social media ahead of the Big Brother Africa season. Ultimately, he was not selected, but that same year, he landed a role on the television series MTV Shuga Naija a turn he credits for launching his successful acting journey.
Reflecting on his career path, Egbuson emphasized that setbacks can serve as redirections toward greater opportunities. He believes some missed chances could have taken him off course, but staying resilient and moving forward after disappointment brought lasting rewards.
“If I had gone on Big Brother, the hype would have gone down by now or I might not have made it in the entertainment industry. So, sometimes, when you lose opportunities, you just have to count it as a blessing, dust your feet and keep on moving. That’s one hard lesson I have learnt,” he said.
Egbuson’s breakout performance on MTV Shuga Naija established him as a prominent figure in Nollywood, with his career trajectory marked by numerous acclaimed roles and awards. His story encourages aspiring talents to view lost opportunities as possible stepping stones to even bigger successes.
