Turkish Commentator Slams Napoli President De Laurentiis for Blocking Victor Osimhen’s Permanent Move to Galatasaray

Turkish football commentator Ertem Şener has publicly criticized Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis for allegedly obstructing Galatasaray’s efforts to secure a permanent transfer of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen this summer. Şener described De Laurentiis as an obsessive and unstable figure whose actions have negatively impacted the careers of many footballers.

Osimhen, who spent the entire 2024-2025 season on loan at Galatasaray, has been a standout performer, scoring 37 goals and helping the Turkish club win the Süper Lig and Turkish Cup. Galatasaray has made multiple offers to Napoli, with the latest bid reportedly at €75 million, but Napoli has yet to accept, demanding a guaranteed €75 million payment and rejecting lower offers.

Şener expressed frustration at Napoli’s handling of the transfer, calling their stance foolish and emphasizing that Galatasaray is eager to finalize the deal. He also expressed hope that Galatasaray and Napoli will meet in the Champions League, predicting that Galatasaray will approach such a match with great ambition.

The transfer saga has been complicated by Galatasaray’s need to raise funds, including plans to sell their training ground and other assets to meet Napoli’s financial demands. Despite these hurdles, Osimhen has agreed to a personal contract with Galatasaray, reportedly worth up to €25 million annually including bonuses and image rights, making him the highest-paid player in Turkish football history.

While other clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal, and Manchester City have shown interest in Osimhen, the Nigerian striker has expressed a strong desire to remain in Turkey, where he has thrived and won the admiration of fans.

The transfer remains unresolved as of July 2025, with Napoli’s president continuing to delay the permanent move despite Galatasaray’s persistent efforts and Osimhen’s clear preference to stay at the Turkish club.
