The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has condemned the unauthorized release of an indecent video involving Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger who violently assaulted flight crew on a Uyo to Lagos flight on August 10, 2025. While supporting the use of video evidence for legal prosecution, Keyamo described the public dissemination of the footage showing Emmanson’s indecent exposure as degrading and unacceptable.
Keyamo has ordered an investigation to identify and sanction the individual responsible for leaking the explicit content. He also urged airlines to enhance staff training in public relations and conflict de-escalation to prevent similar incidents from escalating on flights.
Following the assault incident which involved physical attacks on crew members and attempts to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) imposed a lifetime no-fly ban on Emmanson, banning her from all member airlines domestically and internationally. Ibom Air also permanently barred her from future travel with the airline.
The Minister announced plans for a joint security meeting with relevant agencies to strengthen coordination in managing unruly passenger cases and emphasized enforcement of strict sanctions against disruptive behaviors.
This statement comes amid widespread public backlash over the viral indecent video, highlighting concerns about privacy, dignity, and professional handling of sensitive aviation incidents.
