Borno Doctors Successfully Reattach Man’s Genitals After Suicide Attempt Over Divorced Wife

Bama, Borno State - Doctors at the General Hospital in Bama have successfully reattached the genitals of a 50-year-old man, Modu Isa, who attempted to take his own life following a failed marriage.

On a Friday evening in Hausari Ward, Isa reportedly stabbed himself three times in the stomach before cutting off his genitals. The drastic action followed the refusal of his estranged wife, Bayanxe Modu from Konduga, to return to his home after he had divorced her three times.

Community members raised the alarm and rushed Isa to the hospital, where medical personnel performed emergency surgery to save his life and reattach the severed organ. Hospital sources have confirmed that Isa is now in stable condition and responding well to treatment.

The incident was shared publicly by security analyst Zagazola Makama and has sparked mixed reactions within the community. While some expressed sympathy for Isa’s heartbreak, others reacted with bewilderment and humor about the unusual and tragic event.

Security operatives have transferred the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri for further investigation.

This extraordinary case highlights both the mental health challenges surrounding failed relationships and the advanced medical skills enabling successful reattachment surgeries in emergency situations in Borno State.

The man’s survival and surgical success have been locally dubbed ‘Operation Return Gbola,’ reflecting both the gravity and community reaction to this rare and peculiar suicide attempt.
