Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has said that Nigeria’s home-based team will play for pride in their last group game against Congo at the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). Nigeria has already been eliminated from the tournament after losing their first two group matches a 1-0 defeat to Senegal and a heavy 4-0 loss to Sudan.
Chelle acknowledged that his team made many mistakes in the earlier games but stressed the importance of ending the competition positively. The match against Congo is scheduled for Tuesday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, kicking off at 6 pm Nigerian time.
Despite their elimination, Chelle urged his players to maintain strong mental focus and give their best performance to restore pride and confidence.
The game will also offer an opportunity for fringe players to gain international experience as the team looks forward to rebuilding.
