NDLEA Arrests Wanted General Overseer for Cross-Border Drug Trafficking

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, for allegedly masterminding multiple shipments of illicit drugs into Nigeria. He was apprehended on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his church premises located along Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, Lagos.

Prophet Olasele had been on the run for months, reportedly fleeing twice to Ghana to evade arrest. NDLEA linked him to two major seizures of "Ghana Loud," a strain of cannabis: 200 kg seized at Okun Ajah beach on June 4, 2025, and 700 kg recovered from his delivery van on July 6, 2025. In his statement to investigators, Olasele admitted ferrying the illicit drug shipments via waterways from Ghana into Nigeria.

The arrest followed extensive surveillance and a coordinated NDLEA operation waiting until the conclusion of a Sunday worship service before moving in. The NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended the officers involved and called for collective efforts from families and community leaders to combat drug abuse and related violence among Nigerian youths.

This operation forms part of ongoing intensified crackdowns by NDLEA against drug trafficking networks across Nigeria, including significant seizures of cannabis strains and opioid pills in various states.
