The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has officially dismissed false rumors circulating on social media about the death of its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ali Nuhu.
The misinformation began spreading after a Facebook user posted a video claiming that Ali Nuhu had died, with additional posts alleging he was involved in a fatal car accident.
In a statement released on Monday evening, Brian Etuk, NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, described the rumors as “false and malicious,” emphasizing that Dr. Ali Nuhu is very much alive, well, and actively performing his duties at the corporation.
“The attention of the Nigerian Film Corporation has been drawn to the purported passing of Dr. Ali Nuhu, its current Managing Director/Chief Executive being orchestrated within the social media space,” the statement read.
“These reports, including videos with pictures of Dr. Ali Nuhu, are not only malicious and injurious but false in their entirety.”
Dr. Ali Nuhu was appointed Managing Director of the NFC by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on February 12, 2024, and remains fully engaged in leading the corporation.
The NFC also warned that measures are underway to identify and take action against those responsible for spreading the false information, highlighting the severe consequences they could face.
“NFC wishes to draw the attention of perpetrators of these uncouth and dastardly acts, including their sponsors, to the dire and unmistakable consequences of their actions,” the statement added.
The NFC appreciated the genuine concerns expressed by the public and stakeholders but urged everyone to disregard the unfounded reports.
