Nollywood Actor Jim Iyke Claims Single Mothers Cannot Raise Boys into Proper Men

Nigerian actor Jim Iyke has sparked debate with his assertion that a woman alone cannot raise a boy to become a "proper man." Speaking during an interview with Okay 101.7 FM in Accra, Ghana, Iyke emphasized the importance of male influence in a boy's upbringing.

He stated that single mothers need the support of a trusted male figure such as a father, brother, or any positive male role model to discipline and guide the boy properly. According to Iyke, women are naturally nurturing, but without male discipline and guidance, boys may grow up weak or repeat negative behaviors seen in absent fathers.

Iyke explained that a male presence is essential to teach boys how to face challenges and develop resilience, saying, "There has to be a male presence in it [raising a boy child]."

His comments have reignited conversations about parenting roles and the impact of family structure on child development.
