Prominent Islamic cleric Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi has raised alarm over an alleged plot by Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, to assassinate Muslim leaders in Nigeria. Speaking on social media, Gumi cautioned President Bola Tinubu about the dangers of allowing Mossad a foothold in the country, warning such collaboration could result in severe consequences.
Gumi referenced the mysterious death of former Nigerian Head of State General Sani Abacha, suggesting it was linked to his hosting of the late Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat, claiming Abacha was poisoned. Describing Israel as a “genocidal apartheid government,” he questioned how such an entity could operate within Nigeria’s borders.
The cleric’s statement serves as a stark warning to the Nigerian leadership regarding intelligence activities that could destabilize national security and endanger lives. Gumi stressed that any dealings with Mossad would be costly for the current administration.
