Ex-CPC State Chairmen Deny Endorsing Atiku for 2027 Presidency, Reaffirm Support for Tinubu

The Forum for State Chairmen of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) has denied claims that it has endorsed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential bid.

In a statement signed by National Chairman Kasim Mabo and National Secretary Sulaiman Oyaremi, the group said recent reports suggesting their endorsement were misleading and not representative of the entire forum.

While a small number of former CPC chairmen recently visited Atiku, the forum clarified that out of 37 members, only 16 pledged allegiance to Atiku, with the remaining 20 remaining firmly committed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The statement also alleged that opposition leaders have exerted financial pressure on some members to abandon the APC in preparation for 2027.

The forum reaffirmed its support for Tinubu and urged the APC leadership to address the concerns and feelings of marginalization among CPC members within the ruling party.
