Governor Hope Uzodimma Approves Construction of 55 New Primary Healthcare Centres Across Imo State

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has given the green light for the immediate construction of 55 new Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) spanning all 27 local government areas of the state.

This strategic initiative aims to enhance access to quality healthcare by bringing medical services closer to residents, particularly in underserved areas.

The approval is part of a broader effort to revitalize primary healthcare in Imo, complementing ongoing projects such as mobile rural clinics, renovations of existing health centers, and the establishment of specialist hospitals.

Governor Uzodimma highlighted the administration’s commitment to reducing maternal and child mortality rates through improved healthcare infrastructure and access.

The move aligns with the state government’s focus on health insurance expansion, including enrollment programs targeting both formal and informal sectors to reduce out-of-pocket expenses.

Uzodimma’s government also plans to staff the new centers with qualified healthcare workers, supported by an enhanced salary structure to ensure effective service delivery.

These efforts reflect the state’s resolve to create a resilient healthcare system geared towards equitable health coverage for all communities within Imo State.
