INEC Provides Update on Ongoing Voter Registration Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has provided an update on the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in preparation for the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. According to INEC, the registration process is progressing steadily with both online pre-registration and physical registration centers actively operational across the country.

INEC confirmed that the online pre-registration began on August 18, 2025, while physical registration opened on August 25, 2025. The registration exercise will continue until December 10, 2025, allowing eligible Nigerian citizens to register as new voters, update their information, or transfer their registration to other polling units.

As of the latest update, millions of Nigerians have already pre-registered online, with a sizable percentage being female voters, reflecting an encouraging trend towards gender inclusiveness. INEC has also enhanced its portal features to enable voters to track their registration status, locate PVC collection centers, and update their records seamlessly.

The commission encourages all eligible voters to participate actively to ensure their inclusion in the electoral process and to claim their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at designated centers. INEC continues to emphasize its commitment to a transparent, credible, and inclusive election process for the upcoming 2027 polls.
