Naira Marley Warns Nigerian Youths Against Sports Betting

Singer and rapper Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has cautioned Nigerian youths about the dangers of excessive sports betting.

The "Tesumole" crooner emphasized that gambling is not a reliable occupation and urged young people to stop wasting money on football betting.

Posting on his X handle, Naira Marley wrote, “Football bet no be work bro. Please stop before they finish you.”

His warning comes amid growing concerns about the impact of sports betting on Nigerian youths.

A recent report by Business Insider Africa ranked Nigeria as the top nation for sports betting on the continent, revealing 168.7 million active bettors in early 2025.

The report highlighted that approximately 70 percent of Nigerians aged 30 and under engage in sports betting.

Naira Marley’s advice aims to encourage youths to rethink gambling as a source of income and avoid the associated risks of addiction and financial loss.
