SPL: Iheanacho Inspires Celtic to Dramatic Win on Debut

Kelechi Iheanacho scored a stoppage-time penalty on his debut, inspiring Celtic to a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday.

Iheanacho joined Celtic on a free transfer from Sevilla two weeks earlier and started the match among the substitutes.

Celtic took the lead 10 minutes into the second half through Daizen Maeda, who nodded home from inside the box following an excellent cross from Marcelo Saracchi.

Kilmarnock equalized seven minutes from time through a header by David Watson.

With 20 minutes left, Iheanacho replaced Maeda and remained composed to fire home the winning penalty deep in stoppage time.

The decisive spot-kick was awarded following a handball by Kilmarnock’s Greg Kiltie inside the penalty area.

Iheanacho’s calm finish secured all three points for Celtic and extended their unbeaten start to the season, returning them to the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
