Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially dissolved all statutory and non-statutory boards and commissions in the state. The announcement was made on October 2, 2025, through a statement issued by Prince Enobong Uwah, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who said the decision takes immediate effect.
The governor exercised powers granted under section 6 of the Statutory Boards (Special Provisions) Law, 2023, in making this decision. The SSG commended the outgoing board members for their roles in advancing the promises of the ARISE agenda and wished them success in their future endeavors.
Chairpersons of the dissolved boards and commissions have been directed to hand over all government properties in their custody to the most senior official in their respective establishments. The dissolution follows Governor Eno's earlier indications of imminent changes to state executive structures, aiming to inject new ideas and professionalism into governance.
This major shake-up in Akwa Ibom State governance paves the way for fresh appointments and aligns with the governor’s vision of ensuring efficient and effective administration.
