Gunmen Abduct Road Construction Worker in Katsina, Security Forces Launch Search Operation

Armed bandits have abducted a 35-year-old road construction worker, Kabiru Bature, in Katsina State, Nigeria, around 7:14 p.m. on October 11, 2025. The victim, employed by Stantech Road Construction Company, was kidnapped along the Kunduru–Kadanya feeder road in Charanchi Local Government Area while working on a significant infrastructure project.

Following the abduction, security forces immediately mobilized a coordinated search-and-rescue operation. The military and police have cordoned off the area, pursuing efforts to track down the kidnappers, who are believed to have retreated into nearby forest areas. Authorities are urging residents and commuters to remain cautious and avoid the zone until the situation stabilizes.

This incident comes amidst a series of attacks and abductions by herdsmen and bandits across Katsina, a state notorious for frequent security challenges. The community is deeply alarmed, and residents continue to call for increased military patrols to ensure their safety.

Local vigilante groups and security agencies are actively seeking the kidnappers, but officials confirmed that the bandits are heavily armed, including with machine guns, making the rescue efforts difficult. As of now, the fate of Kabiru Bature remains unknown, and ongoing efforts aim to secure his release.
