The Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC) has sealed several chemical factories and shops in the Ojota area for violating safety and environmental regulations. The enforcement action, led by LSC Director-General Lanre Mojola, followed repeated warnings and the expiration of a grace period granted to these operators.
The affected operators had earlier signed a letter of undertaking on May 9, 2025, committing to a range of safety measures, including conducting safety audits, providing fire extinguishers, maintaining chemical inventories, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and installing clear safety signage. Despite these agreements, the factories failed to comply fully.
LSC emphasized that the sealed facilities will remain closed until all safety protocols are met. The Commission warned manufacturers and business operators statewide to adopt proactive safety practices to avoid similar sanctions.
This operation underscores Lagos State’s commitment to public safety and environmental protection amid increasing surveillance and enforcement activities within high-risk facilities.
