Phyna Accuses Dangote Group of Negligence and Insensitivity Over Sister’s Death

Big Brother Naija star Phyna, born Josephina Otabor, has publicly accused the Dangote Group of negligence and insensitivity in the handling of her late sister Ruth Otabor’s tragic death. Ruth’s death followed a severe road accident involving a Dangote Group truck in Auchi, Edo State.

Phyna expressed outrage on social media, revealing that the company only covered Ruth’s bills at Lagoon Hospital, while the family bore expenses for other medical treatments from Auchi to Irrua without reimbursement. She further alleged that on the day of the burial, the Dangote Group failed to answer calls from the family despite claiming to have settled all hospital bills.

Phyna also condemned the company for sending a pre-written letter asking her father to acknowledge receipt of burial funds, accusing them of impersonation and calculated callousness. She questioned why the company did not request a signed acknowledgment from the family before sending the letter.

The Dangote Group had earlier expressed sorrow, stating that they covered Ruth’s medical expenses and arranged for advanced treatment in India, which unfortunately did not materialize before her passing. Despite their stated support, Phyna’s accusations highlight a strained relationship and perceived lack of empathy from the corporate giant during the family’s mourning period.

Ruth Otabor’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief and calls for justice among fans and Nigerians, as well as reflection on corporate responsibility in tragic circumstances.
