Rivers State Governor Fubara Sacks All Commissioners, Dissolves Cabinet Amid Supreme Court Judgment

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, announced the immediate dissolution of the state executive council, relieving all commissioners and public office holders affected by a recent Supreme Court judgment on their appointments. The development was made public on October 1, 2025, and takes immediate effect.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nelson Chukwudi, confirmed the dissolution in an official statement. Governor Fubara held a private valedictory session with his cabinet members at Government House, Port Harcourt, during which he expressed profound appreciation for their dedication and contributions to the growth and development of Rivers State over the past two years.

The governor described the contributions of his commissioners as valuable, urging them to continue supporting the state's progress in different capacities outside government. The valedictory session was held in conjunction with activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary.

Governor Fubara also used the occasion to reflect on the significance of the independence celebration, calling on all Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu's efforts towards building a peaceful, secure, and prosperous nation. He reaffirmed his commitment to serve Rivers State with renewed vigor and expressed gratitude to citizens for their ongoing support.

This cabinet dissolution marks a significant governmental transition following the Supreme Court's ruling, paving the way for new appointments and a continued focus on governance and development in Rivers State.
