Sam Amadi Predicts Tinubu Likely to Win Middle Belt in 2027 Presidential Election

Dr. Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts and former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has made a surprising prediction that President Bola Tinubu is poised to secure victory in Nigeria’s Middle Belt region during the 2027 presidential election.

Amadi indicated that this outcome depends on just two key strategic moves by Tinubu and his main challenger, Labour Party candidate Peter Obi. He observed that recent political realignments, including defections to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), appear to be strengthening Tinubu’s chances in this influential electoral zone.

Highlighting the complexities of the upcoming election, Amadi noted that if opposition coalitions fail to consolidate around a strong candidate like Peter Obi, it would be better to allow Tinubu to continue for a second term. He reasoned that "stable incompetence is better than unstable incompetence," indicating a preference for predictable governance over uncertain political shifts.

His comments reflect ongoing debates about the fragmented opposition and the challenge of dislodging the incumbent administration. The prediction comes amid rising political maneuvering, with several parties jockeying for influence ahead of one of Nigeria’s most hotly contested elections.
