Veteran Nigerian music producer Don Jazzy has addressed why he abandoned his car with the police in the UK after it was impounded years ago. Responding to a resurfaced claim, Don Jazzy explained that after his car was impounded by the British police who confirmed he wasn’t intoxicated—the fee to retrieve the vehicle was much higher than the actual value of the car. He therefore decided to leave the vehicle with the authorities instead of paying the excessive fine.
The incident, which occurred almost two decades ago, has sparked online debate especially after industry figure Bankulli suggested Don Jazzy had tried to evade responsibility. Don Jazzy countered that he had waited for the officers and fully cooperated, and the case is closed under UK law since it was resolved at the time and falls under minor traffic violations.
Legal experts have clarified that such issues cannot be prosecuted after so many years, putting to rest any speculation of lingering legal consequences for the celebrated producer during future visits to the UK.
