Armed bandits have abducted Hon. Samaila Bagudo, the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, in a brazen attack described by security officials as a “dastardly and cowardly act.” The incident took place on the night of October 31, 2025, in Bagudo Local Government Area shortly after Bagudo returned home from Isha’i (evening) prayers.
The Kebbi State Police Command, through spokesperson CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the kidnapping and revealed that a combined security task force has been deployed to rescue the lawmaker. The team comprises police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes actively combing suspected bandit routes and surrounding forests.
Officials labeled the abduction a direct challenge to public order and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. The Commissioner of Police has launched a major coordinated search and rescue operation spanning Bagudo and neighboring communities.
Residents of Kebbi State have been urged to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative by providing any information that could assist the ongoing rescue efforts. Security operatives are intensifying their manhunt to locate and safely recover the Deputy Speaker.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding lives and property and assured that efforts will continue relentlessly until Hon. Samaila Bagudo is rescued and those responsible are apprehended.
