Leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Southern Kaduna have committed to working closely with security agencies to combat rising insecurity, including herder-farmer clashes and banditry plaguing the region. During a strategic meeting with Kaduna State officials, the group, led by key figures, promised to provide actionable intelligence on criminal elements disguising themselves as herders, explicitly disowning any violent actors within their ranks.
The pledge emphasizes community policing initiatives, enhanced membership vetting, and disarmament efforts to foster peaceful coexistence between herders and local farmers. Kaduna authorities, including representatives from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), welcomed the collaboration, highlighting its potential to address recent deadly attacks that have claimed dozens of lives and disrupted communities.
This development aligns with broader calls for dialogue amid ongoing tensions, where Miyetti Allah positions itself as a partner in security rather than a perpetrator, urging sustained efforts to restore calm in Southern Kaduna.
