Modupe Babalola, wife of legal luminary Afe Babalola (SAN), urged Nigerian youths to embrace sports actively during the grand finale of the 15th Yeye Aare Babalola Athletics Sports Festival (YABAS/YAMBAF) at Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) Stadium in Ado-Ekiti on November 30, 2025.
Athletes from secondary schools and tertiary institutions competed fiercely, with winners receiving prizes as the event celebrated talent discovery and diverted youths from social vices.
Babalola, who instituted the festival 15 years ago, emphasized sports as a poverty-fighting tool, economic prosperity driver, and essential for health, noting past participants now excel nationally and internationally.
ABUAD Vice-Chancellor Prof. Elisabeta Olarinde praised her 15-year sponsorship for fostering unity and cohesion among students across institutions.
