Dangote Petroleum Refinery has committed to supplying Nigeria with 50 million litres of petrol per day, equivalent to 1.5 billion litres per month, starting December 1, 2025. This significant volume marks a milestone in strengthening the nation’s energy security and reducing fuel import dependence.
In a statement to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Dangote Industries’ President and CEO, Aliko Dangote, indicated that monthly supplies would continue into January 2026 at the same levels, before rising to approximately 1.7 billion litres (around 57 million litres daily) from February 2026 onwards.
The refinery currently produces 40-45 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit daily and is on track to expand its processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day, positioning it among the world's largest refineries. This expansion is expected to employ over 100,000 workers in refining and fertilizer sectors.
Dangote emphasized the commitment to ensuring uninterrupted fuel availability during peak demand seasons, dispelling claims that domestic refineries lack the capacity to meet national needs. The refinery’s progress aligns with ongoing efforts to transform Nigeria into a net exporter of refined petroleum products.
