Ghana Busts Romance Scam Ring, Arrests 32 Nigerians in Kasoa

Ghanaian authorities arrested 32 Nigerian nationals in a dawn raid on December 13, 2025, targeting a sophisticated romance scam operation in Kasoa Tuba. The joint effort by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and National Security seized 31 laptops and 15 mobile phones used in the fraud scheme.

Security teams struck early Saturday at the suspects' hideout, where they allegedly ran a cybercrime hub defrauding victims worldwide through fake online relationships. The arrested individuals now assist police investigations, with devices undergoing forensic analysis to trace scam proceeds. Officials described the network as well-organized, preying on emotional vulnerabilities for financial gain.

Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George praised the CSA on social media, calling it a "massive blow" against cybercrime and pledging continued support to deter such activities. This raid fits Ghana's intensified campaign against rising digital fraud, including identity theft and scams impacting local and global targets. Further arrests loom as probes expand to dismantle linked operations.
