The Federal Government launched three new national education policies on December 8, 2025, in Abuja, pivoting from formulation to 80% implementation and 20% development per global standards, as announced by Minister Tunji Alausa. The policies target teacher quality via the National Teachers’ Policy with digital training platforms and mandatory Teachers Registration Council licensing; combat rising drug abuse in schools through counseling, behavioral support, and sanctions for repeat offenders; and address implementation gaps with state-led execution backed by federal resources.
Alausa emphasized measurable state-level outcomes, crediting UNESCO and UNICEF partnerships, noting policy as mere 10% of efforts while commissioners drive the rest. Kwara Commissioner Lawal Olorungbebe pledged integration into 2025 plans, committing commissioners nationwide to full rollout for concrete results.
The shift responds to chronic underperformance, aiming for professional teachers and protected youth under President Tinubu's vision.
