FG Opens Online Portal for 2026 Common Entrance Applications into Federal Technical Colleges

The Federal Ministry of Education has officially launched the registration portal for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into the country's 110 Federal Government-owned Technical Colleges and other technical/vocational institutions.

The portal became accessible to parents, guardians, and candidates on Tuesday, January 21, 2026. The examination, conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO), serves as the primary gateway for admission into Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) in Federal Unity Colleges, including technical and science-focused institutions nationwide.

According to a statement from the ministry, registration is now open and will run until a specified closing date (to be confirmed in official guidelines). Interested candidates can visit the dedicated NECO registration portal at https://ncee.neco.gov.ng or the ministry's designated application link to complete the process.

Key features of the registration include:

- Online payment of the prescribed examination fee

- Uploading of required documents (birth certificate, passport photograph, etc.)

- Selection of preferred Federal Technical Colleges or other Unity Schools

- Generation of registration slip upon successful completion

The Federal Government continues to prioritize technical and vocational education as part of efforts to equip young Nigerians with practical skills for self-reliance, industrial development, and employment in emerging sectors. Admission into Federal Technical Colleges offers students specialized training in fields such as engineering, information technology, agriculture, construction, hospitality, and automobile technology from the junior secondary level.

Parents and guardians are advised to complete registrations early to avoid last-minute rush and technical issues. NECO and the ministry have urged applicants to use only official channels to prevent fraud and ensure accurate data capture.

Successful candidates will sit for the entrance examination on a date to be announced later in the year, with results expected to guide placement into JSS1 across the federation.

This annual exercise remains one of the most competitive admission processes for junior secondary education in Nigeria, attracting thousands of applicants seeking quality government-funded technical schooling.

For full guidelines, eligibility criteria, and step-by-step instructions, visit the official NECO NCEE portal or the Federal Ministry of Education website.
