VeryDarkMan Slams Mercy Johnson Over TikToker's Arrest in Defamation Row: 'Stop Using Police to Oppress People'

Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson has come under fire from outspoken activist and critic VeryDarkMan following the arrest and detention of TikTok content creator Eedie Bliss, who shared unverified claims about Johnson's husband, Prince Henry Okojie.

The controversy traces back to December 2025, when rumors swirled online alleging that Prince Okojie had purchased a mansion for another woman who became pregnant outside their marriage. Eedie Bliss amplified the gossip in a TikTok video, citing Cutie Juls blog as her source and further claiming that Mercy Johnson allegedly collaborated with the mistress's house help to induce a miscarriage.

The post didn't sit well with the family. Prince Okojie filed a petition, leading to Eedie Bliss's arrest and detention in Abuja. The move ignited fierce backlash on social media, with many questioning why the original source (Cutie Juls) faced no consequences while the reposter bore the brunt.

Enter VeryDarkMan, who wasted no time addressing the issue in a viral video. He condemned the detention as an overreach, stressing that defamation is fundamentally a civil matter best resolved through the courts rather than police intervention.

"Dear Mercy Johnson, you can’t fight for the release of Sammy when Ned arrested him over defamation/ETC then later turn around to do the same thing with your husband all in the name of defamation," VeryDarkMan stated pointedly. He referenced a past incident where Mercy Johnson publicly supported Regina Daniels after her brother Sammy was detained by Senator Ned Nwoko in a similar defamation case calling that arrest unlawful at the time.

VeryDarkMan urged the couple to drop the police route: "If you and your husband feels defamed by that girl’s post, please sue her to court. And stop using the police to oppress people. To think of it, this girl’s case is different because she stated her source as cutiejuls blog. Release her and go to court. I heard her wedding is this Saturday."

He even threatened to involve his legal team and fund representation for Eedie Bliss if she wasn't freed promptly, vowing not to back down regardless of the couple's influence.

Amid the mounting public outcry including VeryDarkMan's intervention Mercy Johnson and her husband ultimately withdrew the charges. Eedie Bliss was released on Saturday, January 17, 2026, just in time for her reported wedding plans.

The episode has fueled heated debates online about power dynamics, selective justice, and the fine line between protecting reputations and stifling free speech in the digital age. While some defend the family's right to address harmful rumors, others see the initial arrest as intimidation, especially given the quick reversal following widespread criticism.

VeryDarkMan's bold call-out once again spotlights his role as a vocal advocate against perceived abuses of influence in celebrity circles. As the dust settles, the incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly social media storms can escalate and how public pressure can shift outcomes in Nigeria's entertainment landscape.
